Optical Coherence Tomography – HD-OCT (ZEISS)
The examination helps to detect and monitor diseases such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal edema, and glaucoma in a timely manner.
The HD-OCT by ZEISS is a modern diagnostic device that provides high-resolution imaging of the retina and optic nerve layers – similar to an “optical CT scan.”
This examination helps detect and monitor conditions such as:
- macular degeneration (age-related)
- diabetic retinopathy
- retinal swelling (macular edema)
- glaucoma
The procedure is quick, painless, and contactless. The patient looks into the device, which uses a beam of light to create a “cross-sectional image” of the retina or optic nerve – with no preparation required.
In most cases, pupil dilation is not necessary. It is used only in exceptional situations, such as when the ocular media are cloudy or the image quality is insufficient. HD-OCT examination allows us to diagnose conditions before symptoms appear – enabling early treatment.
