Digital Eye Examination – Photo Slit Lamp

A slit lamp is a modern slit lamp with a digital camera that allows not only a detailed examination of the eye, but also the recording and storage of high-resolution images of the eye.

The photo slit lamp is a modern diagnostic device with a digital camera that enables not only detailed examination of the eye but also the capture and storage of high-resolution images. It is used to document the condition of the anterior segment of the eye – including the cornea, conjunctiva, iris, lens, and other structures.

The examination is performed similarly to a standard slit lamp exam: the patient rests their forehead and chin on the support and looks straight ahead, while the doctor examines the eye using intense light and a microscope. The procedure is quick and painless. In some cases, pupil dilation or numbing drops may be needed – for example, during a more detailed examination of the cornea or anterior chamber.

Digital documentation with the photo slit lamp increases the accuracy of disease monitoring over time and improves communication with the patient as well as with colleagues during consultations.
